South Asian a cappella group Penn Masala has been selected to represent the Philadelphia area as a cultural performer at the USA Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai. The University of Pennsylvania group is one of 84 acts chosen from 506 applicants to perform at Expo 2020 Dubai, a six-month long event showcasing some of the world’s greatest discoveries, innovations, and performances from 192 countries. Penn Masala will take the stage at the USA Pavilion December 28 – 31, 2021.

Expo 2020 Dubai is taking place between October 1, 2021 and March 31, 2022 and is the first World’s Fair to ever be held in the Middle East. Citizen Diplomacy International, a community-based partner of Global Ties U.S., is proud to promote Penn Masala and amplify their performance as local representatives.

In September 2020, Qatar Airways was the first international carrier to resume passenger service at Philadelphia International Airport, operating four flights per week between Philadelphia and Doha. Round airfare starts at $1,500. Dubai Expo 2020 vacation packages are available with day passes to Expo2020.
