The Communications intern will undertake a practical, hands-on learning experience in a small, busy, office, coordinating and producing a wide range of projects in support of the organization’s strategic communications efforts. Specific activities may include:
Writing member and visitor stories for blog posts, membership appeal packages, year-end appeal package, annual Impact report, quarterly donor reports, social media, and reports for boards and leadership;
- Social media campaign support on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Linkedin.
- Print production assistance for annual report, newsletters and fundraising appeals.
- Light graphic design for web graphics, event materials, invitations, presentations
- Photo library management in Flickr
- Manage calendars, tasks and projects in Asana
Qualifications: There are no prerequisites, but the preferred candidate will be able to strengthen her/his skills in the following areas:
- Undergraduate/graduate student or experience in communications, nonprofit management, and/or a related field with a demonstrated interest in communications and/or fundraising activities;
- Strong writing and editing, research, and photo research,
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail; self-starter, able to work with limited supervision;
- Email CRM/Database knowledge (or willingness to learn)
- Strong computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office and design software
- Interest in learning to work and assist with the management of a complex flow of documents that require collaboration and multiple approvals;
- Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality;
- Familiarity with AP and Chicago style a plus.
