How to Make a Bequest in Your Will
For many people, making a bequest is straightforward. Designating Citizen Diplomacy International of Philadelphia as a beneficiary in a will, IRA or 401(k) or life insurance policy.
You simply specify the share of your assets or absolute value you would like to contribute. Your gift can be: A cash sum; A particular property or asset; A share, or the whole, of your residuary estate (what’s left after other specified gifts, costs, and tax or tangible assets such as art or jewelry. When doing this, it’s worth writing a note explaining why the issue matters to you and any specific mission goal you prefer to assist.
It simply starts by calling your life insurance policy holder, IRA or 401k financial advisor or your attorney. There are a number of sites online offering the opportunity to make a will with a bequest. For more complex, or large, bequests, it’s best to talk to an attorney. more complex giving vehicles to ask about include: Charitable Gift Annuity, Charitable Lead Trust, Charitable Remainder Trust, a Life Estate and an Endowed Donor Advised Fund.
